7 DAY TOUR – LOUISE ISLAND

AN IMMERSIVE JOURNEY INTO HAIDA GWAII’S HISTORY

This tour is a self supported sea kayak circumnavigation of Haida Gwaii’s third largest island – Louise Island. Once an area teeming with activity by the Haida and various resource industries, this route affords guests a strong history lesson alongside the archipelago’s natural splendor.

We depart and return from Moresby Camp Recreation site. Over the course of the week long journey guests can expect beachcombing expansive beaches, visiting the Watchmen site of K’uuna and learning about the islands previous logging camps and canneries.

The area also includes Limestone Island and Vertical point with astounding geologic features and protected sea bird nesting habitat. The Hecate Strait to the east is active for larger mammals such as seals, sea lions and humpback whales. Lastly, Louise Narrows is a fascinating setting for tidal dynamics and fauna that are reliant upon it.
